Stretching : Lateral Splits Stretch This stretch is for the groin and quadricep muscles, the red line indicates where the tension is. First off, read the information on the Stretching page to read about the idea of a light jog before stretching and much more. To start off, stand up straight. Then step one foot out infront of you and slide down into position. Not everyone can do the splits to the perfect 180° angle, and it won't happen for you the first time so persevere. It takes much practice and elasticity to be able to perform the splits, and even then, some olympic athletes still cannot perform them completely. So don't get stressed out if it doesnt happen for you. Once you've slid down in the split position, one leg out infront, one leg behind, keep the legs straight. Support yourself by keeping your hands on the floor and down overstretch or bounce in this position and it is easy to injure yourself. You should feel tension in the groin muscles and also in the quadricep of the leg which is out behind you. Hold and repeat on the other leg. ..Back to the Stretching Page.. ..Onto Facial Splits Stretch..
